Fall 2011 Accolades

Congratulations to the MK United U12 Girls Blue team
and coach Jody Plehn for finishing as U12 Girls tournament champions at the 2011 Racine Lighthouse Classic, October 8-9.

In the closing minutes of the opening game they defeated Jonesburg Illinois 1-0 on a goal by Calista Stanoch.  In the second game the MK girls dropped the Serbians by a score of 5-2.  Allison Thornton, Madeline Friske, Jorie Noll (assist Danicka Brezovar) , Mia Salza, Brenna McCormack, Rachael Beaudry, and Elizabeth Missiaen all scored goals.

The Championship game put MK against Racine for the second time in the weekend.  The MK U12 Girls won 201, but it was the defense of the MK girls that proved to be too much for Racine. Sweeper Beaudry and defenders Sara Schmitz, Tessa Schroeder,  and Gabby Renk (mid) dominated the defensive end and shut down most attacks.  One of the true stars of the game was keeper Haily Lipinski, her great hands and organization on corner kicks ended several scoring chances for Racine.   (Missing from photo Brenna McCormack)

Congratulations to the MK United U11 Girls Blue team
and coaches Lou DeLeon and Jerry Gasser for their championship finish at the Racine Lighthouse Classic Oct 8-9 2011.  The team finished the tournament with a perfect record, with each win a shutout.

After wining a league game in the morning, the U11 Girls were warmed up and definitely ready to play when they arrived at the tournament.  The team displayed solid cohesiveness as a team and fine ball control on both sides of the ball in all their games.  Their high-powered offense was balanced perfectly with a strong defense.

Facing their toughest opponent of the tournament in the championship game, goalkeeper Sara Koresch put on a clinic, scooping, kicking, punching and covering up everything that came her way.

Opponents and final scores of their tournament games: United FC Black 3-0.  Pewaukee White 4-0.  Racine United Black 3-0.  Racine United White 1-0.

Congratulations ladies, your club is very proud of you!

Congratulations to the MK United U11 Girls Blue team and coaches Lou DeLeon and Jerry Gasser for their second place finish at the Hardford Kick Some Grass tournament.

While most newly formed teams take a season or more to establish their identity, the MK United U11 girls did it in a weekend.  Playing together in competition for the first time, the girls won each of their three games in bracket play, beating Lake Country United Academy 2-0 on second half goals by Maddy Yager and Melissa Lange.  They followed with a 1-0 win over Pewaukee SC, with Sara Koresch delivering the game winning goal.  Katie Thuemling and Abby Abruzzo delivered second half goals to defeat Germantown Soccer Club 2-0 and qualify to play in the championship.

In the championship game, MK United’s defense held Sheboygan Soccer Club scoreless, denying even a single shot on goal through fifty minutes of regulation and two five minute overtimes.  Unfortunately, in spite numerous shots on goal throughout the game, MK could not push across a decisive goal, and fell to Sheboygan 4-3 in a shootout to determine the champion.

Congratulations to the MK United U13 Girls Blue team for going unbeaten at the Hartford Kick Some Grass tournament, August 27-28.  They started off the tournament with a win against MK Alliance White, but then MK Germantown Red almost stopped their run to the championship game with a 1-1 tie Saturday evening.  But the next morning MK Germantown lost their final game and MK United won theirs against fellow First Division team Oregon Firecrackers.  This put MK United and the Firecrackers into the final, playing against each other for a second time in the same day.  The championship game saw the same result as the previous game, with a close 1-0 win going MK United's way, giving them a hard-fought championship win in their first tournament at the U13 level.  Congrats Girls!

Goals during the tournament came from Emily Diderrich, Alaina Nash, Kayla Jaskuksi and Josie Starr.  Goalkeeper Lexi Schnittka made several key saves during the tournament, especially two in the final game that kept a clean sheet and denied the Firecrackers a chance of going into overtime.  Great defense and an aggressive midfield were what kept the team in game, game after game.  Great job ladies!

Congratulations to the MK United U13 Girls Blue team and coach Lou DeLeon for winning the SECL B League consisting of twelve teams!  There was no quit in this team as they grasped victory from near defeats in closing minutes of multiple games.  They will now prepare for a new challenge in the A League this fall.  Teamwork, friendships, & good soccer skills will last for years to come.

Congratulations to the MK United U12 Girls White team
and Coach Andy Owsiany for their tournament Championship in the U12 Girls Australia division against some very tough competition.  The girls won two shoot-outs on their way to the way to the tournament championship, and showed true determination and composure.  MK United is very proud to have you ladies in our club, and Coach Andy was very impressed by how you never quit!

Congratulations to the MK United U12 Girls Blue team
and Coach Scott Simkowski for their tournament Championship in the Milwaukee Sport Club U12 Girls Division, Sept 11-12, 2010.  The girls beat two of their regular season SECL A division rivals, one of them twice, on the way to winning the championship.

All the hard work is paying off girls - good luck the rest of the season, and next spring!

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U10 Girls Academy Team
and Coach James Niemczynski for their Battle on the Border U11 Girls B Division Championship with 3 wins and 1 tie, in their first tournament (and games) together as a team.

In their first game they played Elm Grove Red, winning 3-0.  The second game was a very physical game against Grayslake Galaxy Green, which they tied 1-1, though they suffered a tough injury with a player out with a fractured arm.  Their third and fourth games were 3-2 wins against United FC Red and Racine United Black.

Great job girls, and way to make MK United proud of their first Academy team!

The team also finished as Finalists in the U12 Girls Vilas Division at the Reddan Toe Bash tournament in Madison, Sep 19-20, 2009.  MK United beat the Tosa Kickers Lightening on Saturday 2-0 while advancing to the finals and faced them again in the finals with an 0-2 outcome.

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U11 Girls Blue Team
and Coach Scott Simkowski for finishing as Finalists in two tournaments during the 2009-2010 season.

As Finalists in the Cedarburg Fall Classic, September 25-27 2009, the team had 3 wins and 1 loss, losing in the final against the Cedarburg Strikers.

As Finalists in the Brookfield Select Cup, June 11-13 2010, they lost to the Brookfield Red - P team in bracket play, 4-0, but made it to the finals by beating the Panthers SC Stars and the Brookfield Red - R. In the final they went up against the same Brookfield Red - P team they lost to in the first game, but this time the girls fought hard and went ahead early. Brookfield tied it up in the second half and in overtime, with 10 seconds to play before the game would go to penalty kicks, Brookfield scored off a corner kick.

But the girls can hold their heads high, and Coach Simkowski had this final comment to the team and parents: Great Tourney and season! It was a delight to coach your daughters! These girls work so hard each week and really love to play the game.

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U16 Boys Team for finishing as Champions in the U16 Boys White Division at the Lakers Classic tournament in Lake Geneva, May 15-16, 2010. Coached by Lou De Leon, they beat the Lake Geneva Lakers in the first game 2-1, the Oregon Heat 3-1, and tied the United Soccer of Allouez Saints 3-3, which was enough to with the championship.

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U14 Girls Team
for finishing as Champions in the U15 Girls Division at the Lighthouse Classic tournament in Racine, Oct 10-11, 2009. Only one U15 girls team registered for the tournament, so the best U14 teams were moved up to play against them. It was a tough division, with the MK United U14 girls qualifying to play in the Final by winning one game and tying the other two. In the Final, played against the Pewaukee Pirates U14 Girls, regular time expired with both teams still scoreless. Rachel Snyder was in the goal for the penalty kick shoot-out, and she saved two goals and another Pewaukee shooter missed the goal mouth, which was enough to give MK United the 1st place trophy, 3-2.

Great job ladies - and congratulations on a great Fall 2009 season!

Coach John Ackerman and Asst Coach Robin Bautzmann

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U14 Girls Team for finishing as Finalists in the U14 Girls Bascom Division at the Reddan Toe Bash tournament in Madison, Sep 19-20, 2009.  Playing against a mixture of regular-season Premier and 1st Division teams, the team finished with a 1-1-1 record, losing 2-0 to the Madison 56ers in the division final.

During the trophy presentation, Coach John Ackerman thanked the ladies for all their hard work, excellent play and never-quit attidudes, congratulating them on their well-deserved finish and trophies.

Coach John Ackerman and Asst Coach Robin Bautzmann
CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U13 Boys Blue Team for their first place finish in the Battle of the Border tournament in Kenosha, WI.  The team finished with a 3-0-1 record defeating SE United (6-0), Warren United (2-0), and tying OSA Rampage (1-1) in pool play.  They defeated OSA Rampage 2-0 in the championship game.  Fast, aggressive defense and an excellent transition game shut down the opponent's attack and created a shooting differential of 73 shots on goal for MK-United vs. 28 shots on goal for opponents and a goal differential of 11-1.  This was a great pre-season performance and showed that the boys are well prepared for the upcoming season.

Congratulations also on a very successful 2008-09 season.  In their first year together, the team went 6-2 in the fall and 7-0 in the spring in the MYRSL "C" league.  This earned them a spot in the MYRSL "B" division this year.  Each player improved individually and their team play improved tremendously as their combined 13-2 overall record, and 80-20 goal differential, demonstrates.

Great job to all the players and we look forward to a SUCCESSFUL 2009 SEASON!!

Coach Ric Reisenauer, Coach Doug Berger, and Coach Phil Purpero

CONGRATULATIONS to the MK United U14 Girls Blue Team and Coach Toby Whipple for clinching the WYSA Southeast Classic League B-East Championship for the spring 2009 season with a record of 7-1-0.

This team lost out on being league champions last fall and being promoted by one goal and they were determined not to let that happen this spring.  They fought through some player attrition late in the spring season, but persevered to win the championship!  Actually, this team only lost two league games for the entire 2008-09 year.

This team also went undefeated in the MKsc Froedtert/Medical College of WI A/B Select Tournament this spring with three straight shutout wins.

Looking back to last fall, they were the champions of the Racine Lighthouse Tournament and were runners up at the New Berlin Fall Classic Tournament.
